Crazy Sexy Cancer.

October 24th, 2007 · No Comments

Every once and awhile, as I tra-la-la along in life, something occurs that just makes me pause and go “shit, I lost sight again.” I snap back into reality and then like a new born baby with a fresh perspective, I continue to move forward taking the lesson with me and making it apart of me. This is the interesting part of life: although you try and live your day-to-day life with integrity, to the fullest and with remembrance of how lucky you are, you can always be humbled no matter who you are.

Here’s the newest pulse check I’ve had…

Everybody knows someone who has or had Cancer. As the daughter of a Cancer survivor, as the best friend of a person whose Mother lost the battle, I have a tremendous respect for those who encounter this disease from any angle. Almost everyone I have met in my young life, has some type of connection to it.

I came across this movie called Crazy Sexy Cancer. It’s the story of a young woman who had an amazing future, whose world changes when she’s diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The documentary is how she deals with this news. Amazing, amazing woman.

Also, my best friend sent me the transcription of Randy Pausch’s “last lecture” speech a few weeks ago. I read it, I was moved. But then I found the video of his speech. Leaves me speechless every damn time.

Pass this along to the people who need it most in your life. Be inspired. Be grateful. Be thankful. Most importantly, remember what is truly important.

LIFE is what is important - not a deadline at work, not a Luis Vuitton purse, not whether you missed the last episode of Prison Break and definitely not your “lucky you weren’t raped” recent experience. Check.
