In a child’s mind, once upon a time, a dream of majestic creatures lingered like a pink mist in the mind of a young girl. Elegant Unicorns, swift-protective Pegasus’s and a single lordly White Lion. She picked up such thoughts from books, mythologies and ancient-old stories. She knew that it wasn’t real but wanted to believe in these creatures so badly that she would whisper to the Wind begging it to create such noble creatures for her.
The mind is powerful enough that it allows me to go back to those lingering summer days where the weather was perfect, the freshly cut grass was flawlessly green and an imagination could amuse me for hours and hours. The feeling is similar to the smell of cotton candy or the smell of Aunti Shannon’s freshly baked vanilla birthday cake. It it easy to remember such day and visit them from time to time, in fact, it’s my livelihood.
17 years laters, the White Lion exists and has for over 400 years. Their not talked about often, are very very rare…but they actually exist in the real world! It’s like a dream come true. Such perfection should be love, cherished and obeyed. African elders recognized the beauty and took the presence of a White Lion as a spiritual symbol and an ancient prophecy fulfilled. In fact, the Kings of African marked the site of the White Lions as sacred (Timbavati region in South Africa) and saw the them as the children of the Sun God – and you know what? I believe them. Look at the beauty…
Unfortunately (and typical of humanity), the White Lion was almost wiped about by trophy hunters, zoos and circuses capturing and/or killing the rare beauties as a prize over time. The last time they were seen in the wild was in 1994…until 2006 one was finally spotted in the wild. The Global White Lion Protection Trust (established in 2002) has been working hard to protect “the White Lions and developing the related cultural values that hold them sacred.”
And if you can believe it, there is no international or local law that protects the White Lion as rare or endangered species. Shocking, but again, typical of humanity.
So hear my call: please donate or become a member to this fabulous cause and help The Global White Lion Protection Trust “Preserve an Icon of National Pride, Hope and Unity”

This is something which is hard to believe that these creatures still exist. And good to see that there are people who are taking care off these creatures.

beauty in nature at its most surprising, i was seeing a documentary on nat geo on this, or was it discovery, and the sight of it gave me goosebumps, made me smile and cry at the same time, actually i just caught it when it was bout to end thus could not get much info on it, the guy giving info on these animals said that now they only exist in captivity, and they showed its cubs, they were so cute, even when they grew up they could not be returned or rehabilitated in the wild as they would not be able to survive on their own sadly, surely seeing them for the first time was as if beautiful spellbinding mythological creatures had come to life, id love to cuddle a grown one.

There is no international law to protect white lions because they are not an “endangered species”. They are not their own breed, they are normal lions, and they are “rare” because they are a product of excessive inbreeding.
The ONLY way to produce a tiger or lion with a white coat is through inbreeding brother to sister or father to daughter; generation after generation after generation. The kind of severe inbreeding that is required to produce the mutation of a white coat also causes a number of other defects in these big cats. The same gene that causes the white coat causes the optic nerve to be wired to the wrong side of the brain, thus all white tigers are cross eyed, even if their eyes look normal. They also often suffer from club feet, cleft palates, spinal deformities and defective organs.
White coated lions you see in captivity are the products of horrible birth defects and bred purely for exploration. Cubs that do not come out white are often just killed because there is no money in them and they are so deformed and with so many defects that they serve no real breeding purpose.
