For a little over a decade, the gray wolves in the Northern Rockies have been the focus of a restoration effort as well protected by being placed on the endangered species list. A news released posted yesterday by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service reports that the the wolves don’t need protection under the Endangered Species Act any longer because their numbers have far exceeded their goal. Notable, “that there are currently more than 1,500 wolves and at least 100 breeding pairs in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.” (Sorry, that number doesn’t sound high enough to me). They say, “now it’s time to integrate wolves into the states’ overall wildlife management efforts.”
My opinion? The farmers/ranchers in the restoration territory don’t like the wolf population for obvious reasons and I’m sure that somewhere in the the Bush administration there must be a high up connection to a ranch in the Northern Rockies…oh…how odd…Dick Chaney grew up in Casper, Wyoming, which is where he met and married his wife and attended University. In 1978, Cheney was elected to represent Wyoming in the US House of Reps and held that position for 10 years. What a crazy koinkydink: he even has a building named after in him Wyoming: The Dick Cheney Federal Building. Well now that does not makes sense, he doesn’t hunt at all. What’s this? He DOES hunt? OH MY that’s a shocker! Well I’m sure the 2 aren’t linked at all.
Nonetheless, we should still do all we can to stop this ridiculous act; start by signing a petition. The states the first plan of action against our brother-wolves was to purchase two airplanes for use in aerial predator control in Wyoming according to National Parks Traveler. Yes my friends, this opens up the entire wolf population in that area to hunting and gaming. I don’t understand, why work so hard just to destroy all your hard work? Perhaps there is something more to this story…
